JOB PROFILE: GARDENER (Contractual)

Work Location: Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone (ZAMBOECOZONE) – Dinosaur Park

Employment Type: Contractual

1. Job Summary

The Gardener is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, health, and appearance of landscape areas within Dinosaur Park. This includes caring for plants, trees, and outdoor attractions to ensure the park remains welcoming, green, and well-maintained for visitors.

2. Key Responsibilities

Landscape Maintenance

1. Water plants, lawns, and landscaped areas regularly.
2. Trim, prune, and maintain shrubs, bushes, and ornamental plants.
3. Mow grass and keep pathways clear of fallen leaves and branches.
4. Maintain outdoor flower beds and decorative gardens.

Plant Care & Growth

1. Apply fertilizers and soil enhancers when needed.
2. Report plant diseases or pest issues to supervisors.
3. Support replanting, landscaping, and garden redesign projects.

Groundskeeping Tasks

1. Keep walkways clean and clear.
2. Sweep outdoor areas and remove trash or debris.
3. Maintain cleanliness of garden tools and equipment.

Safety & Compliance

1. Follow proper handling of gardening tools and equipment.
2. Adhere to park safety rules and Environmental, Safety, Health, and Sanitation (ESHS) standards.
3. Ensure chemicals, fertilizers, and tools are stored safely.

3. Qualifications Required

Minimum Qualifications

1. At least High School Graduate (K-12 accepted).
2. Physically fit and capable of outdoor labor.
3. Willing to work under the heat or rain when needed.
4. With or without gardening experience (training provided).

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience in landscaping or grounds maintenance.
2. Basic knowledge of plant care, pruning, and grass cutting.
3. Ability to operate simple tools like shears, mower, and trimmer.

5. Physical Requirements

1. Fit to work and able to handle outdoor conditions
2. Capable of lifting/moving gardening tools and materials
3. Stamina for standing, walking, bending, and repetitive tasks

6. Working Conditions

1. Outdoor work environment (sun, rain, changing weather)
2. Shifting schedule depending on park operations
3. Holiday/weekend work may be required
4. Mostly stationed in outdoor areas and landscaped zones
